I'm unable to use links

I use WinXP Pro with all the latest updates. My default browser is
Firefox 1.5 however this fault exists equally in IE6 & existed before
the installation of Firefox.

I'm unable to use links on a lot of web sites. In a lot of sites I can
see them but they're inactive. i.e. http://www.jormungand.de/ I can use
the links to navigate to the rooms but the links to the images are shown
as the image name & size, no image itself. If that site happens to be
dead right now it's not the only site that problem exists for me.

On other sites, links that I know are there do not show up at all. I
know they are there because I can see them on other computers & there is
a blank space where they should be.

I thought that I may have screwed something up on my computer & took the
drastic action of re-installing WinXP, however it didn't correct the
problem.

Can anyone suggest what I should be looking for?

Another possible, try this.
IE > Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing > Reuse window for
launching shortcuts.
Disable & see if that helps.
