I'm stumped and desperate!

Hello!
I've recently posted my frustration, having been been plagued with a
slight problem shutting down. When I click on, "TURN OFF COMPUTER", a
dialog box pops up, that reads, and I quote: "Recent is a Windows
System folder and is required for Windows to run properly. It cannot be
deleted"

My post gave me a few responses which indicated a Trojan Horse. I
clicked on the HELP link provided and sure enough, there is my error
message, and the answer is: - a Trojan Horse.

I downloaded the latest Norton AntiVirus definitions, and did a
complete scan. NOTHING!

I downloaded the latest SPYSWEEPER defiinitions and did a complete
scan. NOTHING!. (Spysweeper claimns to find Torjans as well as
Spyware).

Can someone offer me a clue as to what my next step can possibly be?
I'm afraid of infecting my eMail correspondents, even though Nortons
also scans my outgoing eMail.

MRU-Blaster can delete the Recent folder and so can DiskCleaner and probably
many more cleaner utility programs.

Are you using a really old version of MRU-Blaster?
Here's a post with your exact error message from October 18th, 2002

I mentioned Norton's Internet Security And Spyswweper, in my post.. I
receive several different suggestions such as AVI and MRU Blaster,
disk cleaner, etc. Why didn't Norton's do the job? I guess I have to
download or buy half dozen of these utilities to get the jub done.
That's so terribly discouraging!

Thank you for the replies and the hints. I'll get right on it!! If my
system doesn't collapse before I get to using these programs.

Norton sucks.

I did not suggest that you get any additional software, I only wondered if
you had any of the programs that I mentioned.

Logan,

Are you going to continue insulting people who are legitimately asking
for help on Microsoft NG? I can see you are posting your messages from:

Haven't you anything better to do?

He is a well-known troll who pops up here now and again. Don't feed him.
Just report him to his ISP.
