I'm getting e-mails stuck in the outbox, even after reinstall

I'm using outlook 2003, and getting the problem that e-mails are stuck in the
outbox without sending.

I've been through the knowledge base article and tried all of the steps
including setting up a new profile, removing old psts/osts, reinstalling
Outlook, and trying the remove the Outllib.dll file.

Pegasus mail with identical smtp setting works fine, also rather strangely,
the "Test account settings" option in outlook will send fine, but not a
regular e-mail.

After browsing a few of the other posts, I thought I'd turn on logging and
post an attempt. Only software that contains add-ins affecting this is AVG
antivirus, but I've tried uninstalling this also.

It's a long shot but have you tried increasing the timeout value here: Tools
menu > E-mail accounts > View/Change existing accounts > Click Next >
Highlight your account > Click Change > Click More Settings > Advanced tab

Thanks for replying. I tried setting the timeout to maximum, it actually gave
an error message this time rather than just not doing anything:

"Task 'Virgin - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC0F) : 'The connection to
the server was interrupted."

Log file was longer too, though I don't know if it's useful.
