Download Adaware 6 & Spybot 3.
You often need to run Spybot or Adaware 2 or 3 times then once a week.
Check & remove everything listed, also Remove the registry entries. Before
I run the spyware checkers, I always clear cookies & history etc in browser
tools/internet options. That cuts down on the amount of items found by the
spybot/adaware. If anything stops working after removing the items (I have
never had a problem), you can click on recovery & uncheck that item.
After you have resolved the hijacking problem, click on the immunize button,
you can check "Permanent Internet Explorer immunity". Also see at the
bottom & Put a check against "Lock Internet start page.

Hi Reg

Removing some Registry entries could lead to problems - including a non-bootable system. Very careful setup options have to be adhered to otherwise a system can go tits-up without any warning.

I have quarantined reg entries found by SpyBot & Ad-aware every time for 3
years. Never had a single problem. Obviously no one should remove reg
entries manually unless they know what they are doing & backed up first.
But reg entries, found by the spyware checker are always the spyware
culprits. You quarantine & the entries can be reinstated. Still each user
has to decide for themselves. I have known several people with the problem
of the "Atom Ant character/winged insect" whizzing around their screen,
Spyware remover has always gotten rid of it.

Hi

So long as you are happy with your setup, that's OK. Other users, not as knowledgeable as yourself, may use these kind of programs without realising exactly what is being removed and from where. Just an observation.
