IE7 Problems

Hi
Until a few days ago everything was working ok but now when I open a web
page that has a lot of images on it, only about half the page loads. I have
to refresh the page several times before the whole page downloads and if I
then click on a thumbnail to open the picture, only half the picture
downloads.

Also, some web pages start to load then advance forward a page without me
clicking on any link and display the message:
Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage. Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.
etc... etc...
If I then click on the back button the original page flashes on/off a couple
of times then advances forward again to the 'Internet Explorer cannot display
the webpage' page again.
Ive tried downloading and re-installing IE7 but windows update will not let
me download the validation tool so I cant download any updates. I didnt have
this problem until now either.

Im using XP SP2 and running IE7 on broadband.
Please help this is driving me nuts !
Thanx
Stav

What you describe here sounds like symptoms of a bad internet
connection. Every refresh downloads as much as it can and those pics
go in your cache and then it fails, now the refresh tries loading the
page again but does not waste time on those pics and can download more.
Eventually you get them all. Its either a really bad server for
the site, or your ISP or your nic/router/modem (you).

Bad internet connection. Try one of the internet speed tests. If you're not
getting close to what you're supposed to be getting, call your ISP and fuss
like the third monkey on Noah's gangplank.

Now that one I have to remember!!!!! That's fabulous. You made
months of reading these messages worth it.

Thanks for all your replies guys.
Ive done the speed test thing already and got quite obsessed to the point
that it was taking up all of my "Me" time. That was a couple of months ago
when my 'up to 8mb' broadband suddenly dropped from 5.5 to 1.3 with no
explanation from my ISP.
I bombarded them with emails but didn't get one reply back! The 'helpline'
was no better. After half a dozen times of putting me on hold and me giving
up after 30 mins each time, Im waiting til my contract runs out in January
next year to get the hell away and join a decent supplier. I can feel my
blood pressure starting to rise again so Il leave this subject now!

Can you help me with my other problem. I get the icon in the taskbar saying
new updates are ready, but the Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool will
not download. My last succsessful update was April 13th (Windows Malicious
Software Removal Tool).
Do you think a system restore might help?

Uhhhhh, if you are having internet issues, then you can't download the
tool maybe? Just a WILD guess.

Did you try a system restore? It is reversable.

Ive already said I can't download the tool. I want to know WHY I cant
download the tool. If I could download the tool, I would be able to download
the updates.

I don't understand your point, or maybe you're just taking the piss!

Hi Colin
Ive just done a system restore, all the way back to 2nd April and its solved
the Windows update problem but not the other one where large web pages are
only half loading.
If I do a refresh, sometimes the page loads completely, but not always; and
even if it does, more often than not if there are any images near the bottom
of the page (even thumbnails) they won't load at all.
Any ideas?
