IE7 - How to change the default home page

May seem like a simple question, but please don't supply the obvious answer.
I've already tried that.

Here's the problem. I have a dell computer and Dell provided they're own
Dell branded I.E. 6.0 when I bought it. I promptly changed the home page to
my own, using Internet Options\General Tab and selected "Use Current".
Worked well back then!

I've upgraded to IE 7.0 and seems all the rules changed. The default home
reverted back to the one Dell stuck in there, under version 6.0. I've tried
"use current" where I've manually typed in the URL. No good. Next time I
start IE 7.0 again, the old Dell home page URL is back in that box!

I was thinking it might be some entry in the registry, so I tried to search
for that character string in the registry. No good.

So, all y'all experts, how do I reset the default home page?

And don't tell me to contact dell. My PC is no longer under their support
services.

One or more options/settings in an ever-growing number of third-party
applications may be disallowing the change(s) from "sticking". These include
but are not limited to Ad-aware's Ad-Watch, Spybot Tea Timer,
SpywareBlaster, SpySweeper, Spyware Doctor, Norton AntiVirus, McAfee
VirusScan and/or Antispyware, and Zone Alarm (Free and Pro).
