IE7 & Explorer Problems

I am having the following problems:

Internet Explorer (version 7.0.6000.16609) I have shortcut on my desktop
but they don't work anhymore unless I have IE already open. In the past I
could just click on them and it would open IE without any problems. Now if I
do that I get an error message that closes down IE.

Explorer -- if I try and drop and drag a file to copy explorer goes into
shut down mode. I have to use either the control keys or the menu bar and
click to copy/cut then paste

any ideas on way to fix this??

Thanks

Control Panel, Default Programs, scroll down to the bottom to 'protocols'
area. See the setting for HTTP and URL.

The DragNDrop failure of Explorer is another registry setting that you might
fix if your system has a 'Repair' option on the (press F8 on restart) Safe
Mode menu.
