IE6 SP1 again???

My version is 6.00.2800.1106. What version does this second SP1 update
bring IE to? The first IE6 SP1 was released over 3 years ago. Why
does this service pack not show up in Windows Update when I do a scan
for updates? No I do not have automatic updates turned on.

The post-SP1 updates don't change the displayed version number. Windows
update displays only what it thinks your system needs. It's not always
right about that.

Why not download it, expand it and compare what it includes with
what you have?

E.g. download and save ie6setup.exe into a new subdirectory

In a command window positioned at that subdirectory issue:

ie6setup.exe /c:"ie6wzd.exe /d:1"

Tip: if you use the Folder option after the download completes
you can copy the path out of that window's Address bar and then
in your command window generate the necessary chdir command
by pasting that path after

<example>
cd /d
</example>

You will be prompted where you want the files to be downloaded to.
If you want them to go into the same directory as the ie6setup.exe
file just press Ctrl-v (assuming it is still in the ClipBoard after the
previous step.) Uncheck any downloads you don't need.

Wherever you choose to download it to if you leave an Explorer window
open there you will be able to see when each .cab file comes in.
Then in your command window you can check on its contents with

extract /d <cabfile name>

Hmm... I'm getting prompted to *Run...* Internet Explorer Core Web Fonts?
During a download only? (clicking Don't run...) ;}

My guess is that's what's changed. <EG>

If you want to know more looks as if you will have to allow that
prompting step to Run... I have no idea what that would do given
that the rest of the install is not being done. Proceed at your own risk
and make sure you have a good backup and know how to use it.
