IE6 Locked into "offline"

Using Windows XP Home - I.E. seems to be permanently locked into "offline"
mode. Going to File|Work Offline and removing the tick does not solve the
problem. When refreshing the page or trying to open a new site, it
automatically goes back into "offline" mode again. Help please.

Possibly you don't have a network connection?

There is a router in place for two other computers to run off and both of
them are working ok on the internet.

In IE go into Tools>Connections>Setup and configure your Internet connection
