IE6 intermittently hangs

I'm on XP and have been using IE6 ever since I bought this computer over a
year ago with no problems. I'm been using AVG anti-spyware and Anti-virus
for almost a year (had Norton before that). A couple of weeks ago, my
internet explorer started intermittently hanging. It hangs sometimes when I
just open it to a blank homepage, sometimes it hangs while downloading a
page, sometimes it hangs after I've been on a site for awhile. A seemingly
unrelated problem happened at the same time - I stopped being able to scan
anymore (my computer stopped recognizing my all-in-one device as a scanner,
although it could print to it). I didn't download any new code for anything
- these problems just seem to have started out of the blue. The IE hanging
is becoming extremely annoying as I have to open a new window several times
sometimes before it doesn't hang. Any help provided will be GREATLY
appreciated!

Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting your hijackthis log
to an appropriate forum.

When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware with
assistance from an expert. **Post your log to

http://castlecops.com/forum67.html,

analysis, not here.**

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.

In the quickfix website I got down to the step of installing Ad-Aware and I'm
confused. I can't find Ad-Aware SE (only Ad-Aware SE Enterprise). Is
Ad-Aware 2007 the same as Ad-Aware SE? I read a couple of reviews that
seemed to indicate it is different. If so, how do I obtain a copy of
Ad-Aware SE?
