IE6 Hangs Constantly

J

Jon

Whenever I open a new browser window, IE works for about
2 seconds then hangs for about another 10-20. Then it
starts working again, only to find that when I move to
another page, the same problem starts up again. What do I
do?

I am having exactly the same problem. I can't think of
anything that changed on my computer within the last week,
but about 5 days ago this problem started.

- When I start IE, it hangs for a bit.
- When I load a new page, it hangs for a bit.
- When I sit too long on one page, it hangs for a bit.

All other apps on the computer work fine.

Once I'm inside of a site, running something through them
over the interent it all works fine.

The problem seems to be with IE itself.

Oh my god...I am having the exact same problem as you two guys...

When I start up IE...it freezes for about 10 - 20 seconds...then it works.
When I load up a new page...it does the same thing. But once i'm on a site, it works fine...until I need to go to a different one...then it freezes up on the new site again. Does anyone have an answer....I know it's not my computer...this just started happening about 2 days ago. I've done everything I can think of. HELP!!!

I had the same problem happen yesterday. I thought it was just me. Was there some Windows update in the last few days that could have done it? Spent all day trying to fix to no avail. If anyone comes up with a solution, please pass it on.

First eliminate any scumware.
See

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
