IE6 freezes when I click Explorer History icon

IE6 works fine for a while, but then when I click the IE6 Explorer history icon, Internet Explorer freezes. The page is blank and I have to close the window. The computer has to be restarted before this icon can work again, although without restarting, I can use Internet Explorer again, just not the history list
If I try CTRL+ALT+DELETE, this does not appear on the desktop either, only in the taskbar.

Repair IE.
Add/Remove Programs/MS/IE repair....

Your TIF index may be corrupt. Start a new one.
Delete/Empty Temporary Internet Cache completely
