IE6 CPU usage

IE6 will no longer run on my system windows 2000,
i've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, even the trick
with the registry key change.
as soon as any program attempts to load something
requireing IE it runs the CPU usage up to 99-100%, i have
to go into task manager to kill the program.
any help would be appriciated

Do you have Norton software installed? If it's current, use the updater to
see if any patches need to be downloaded. If it's expired, then disable the
Privacy Control.
