IE6 buffer overrun?

Hi,
I'm running IE6 on WINNT. The program won't start... it
gives the error message:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Program: C:\Progra~1\Intern~1\iexplore.exe
A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted teh
program's internal state. The program cannot safely
continue execution and must now be terminated.

After reinstalling, I get the same message. I have the
latest virusscan files and am virus-free. Has anyone seen
this problem before?
