IE6 as ftp client does not display shortcuts or sym links

When I use IE as an ftp client and connect to a site, neither shortcuts (if
ftp site is hosted on Windows) nor symbolic links (if ftp site is hosted on
Unix) are listed in the IE window. Other folders and files will show up, but
not shortcuts or links. I seem to recall this (mis)behavior was not present
in IE 5 and earlier. Does anyone know why I can't see shortcuts or links?

Thanks for any help.

You aren't providing enough details but try this:
