IE stops when going into some sites including Yahoo mail

If anyone can tell me if a fix is available for this, I would be grateful.

When I go into IE, is some sites, when I'm doing some kind of search or
link, I get the message "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and
needs to close". When I go to see more details, the information is as
follows:
AppName: iexplore.exe
Mod Ver 6.0.2900.252?
AppVer: 6.02900.2180
Offset 00002?7
Mod Name: mshtml.dll
(?=can't read number on screen print)
I had windows xp 6.0 sp1. This just started to occur a week ago. Thought I
had a virus or something (no antivirus software). Installed Norton and ran
it. Found something and cleaned it up. Ran AdAware. Also upgraded to SP2.
Problem still
occurs.

Thanks
Cindy

SP2 is much more sensitive to malware.
CAUTION!!!!! Before you try to remove spyware using any of these programs ,
download a copy of LSPFIX from any of the following sites:
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
(if your OS is Win2k or XP) The process of removing certain malware may kill
your internet connection. If this should occur, this program, LSPFIX, will
enable you to regain your connection.

See
Dealing with Unwanted Malware, Parasites, Toolbars and Search Engines
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:

Hello,
I had the same issue/problem about a week ago when I log in my e-mail
accounts, and my online banking account. (Even though I downloaded the
spyware, nor upgrade to SP2, it still doesn't work!!)

Tonight, I searched through online thru Microsoft Help & Support section,
there is actually a related subject about this. My problem was solved after
I chose one of the fixing options that it suggested. Use the following link,
and you will see what I mean! (By the way, I chose Option # 3, and it worked
in seconds)
I wish your problem will be fixed soon. Let me know!
Good Luck.

I'd strongly recommend you give your computer a thorough going over for
other malware or viruses. Disabling third party browser extensions should
only be used to test for aberrant third party software, not as a fix.

If that fixed the problem then you DO have malware installed on your
computer.
