IE Search Toolbar

Bob R

I need some help. How do I eliminate IE Search Toolbar
from the tool bar menu. It is quite annoying to have up
there, and I can't find it anywhere to remove it. Any
help would be appreciated. I have tried Adware and it
didn't find anything. If anyone knows how to delete this
I would appreciate it. also, if I turn it off from the
toolbars menu, it changes my home page settings. Thanks
in advance for any help. Bob

Hi Bob R :)

Try the following and see if it helps:

Using ToolbarCop to remove the unwanted Toolbands, Toolbar icons and Browser
Helper Objects
http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/utils/ToolbarCop.exe

If these steps do not resolve your problem, please post back to this thread
with the details and any error messages.

Hope this helps

Jan,
I downloaded the file as you suggested, and I am
getting the following error message when I try to install
Toolbar Cop:
Failed to load control 'CommonDialog' from
comdlg32.ocx. Your version of comdlg32.ocx may be
outdated. Make sure you are using the version of the
control that was provided with your application.

Do you happen to have any other suggestion, I am running
XP Profesional and even though I was able to disable the
toolbar, I would like to delete it entirely from my PC.
Thanks for your help. Bob

Hi Bob -)

Try the following and see if this will help:

Utility: Internet Explorer Toolbar settings utility.

Also......it is a very good possibility you have malware, spyware or
parasites on your system causing this problem. In addition to running your
updated anti-virus program, you should do the following to be sure none of
these are present on your system. Some variants of malware can replicate
themselves over and over if not removed properly. Please follow all
instructions carefully to be sure your system is thoroughly cleaned:

Dealing with Unwanted Spyware and Parasites:

Be sure to run CWShredder, Ad-aware and Spybot.
Also be sure to use the HijackThis. Please do not post your log to this
newsgroup, but to the SpywareInfo or the Aumha HiJackThis forums

evaluate your log and advise you of the necessary steps to clean your
system.

CAUTION!!!!! Before you try to remove spyware using any of the programs
below, download a copy of LSPFIX from any of the following sites:

(if your OS is Win2k or XP) The process of removing certain malware may kill
your internet connection. If this should occur, this program, LSPFIX, will
enable you to regain your connection.

Jan,
After looking through the various options, I found
the file HiJackThis, and after running the program, I
found the IE Search Toolbar and deleted it. Upon
deleting the entry, I started IE again, and low and
behold it is gone. So thank you for your help,
everything is back to normal. Thanks, Bob
