IE Script Errors, Missing Images

I am at my wits end. I have asked other forums for advice, followed it and
haven't gotten anywhere.

The problem is: I continually get the following error...

Internet Explorer Script Error
An error has occurred in the script on this page.
Line: 28
Character: 9
Error: No such interface supported
Code: 0

Further, on just about every page I go to, images are missing. All I see is
a blank box with the red x in the upper corner. It's causing problems when I
need to download something, because I can't see any button to push.

I ran sfc /scannow and let it fix everything, updated my java script,
turned off my hardware acceleration, and a few more things I just can't put
my finger on right now.

Could this be some type of security setting? Or, am I missing part of some
program?

I'd welcome any/all suggestions. I'm getting so frustrated!!!

Thanks!

For the script errors in IE | Tools | Internet Options | Advanced | in
the Browsing section put a tic mark in Disable Script Debugging and
untic Display a notification about every script error.

I should also mention that this happens in Mozilla/Firefox and my SBC Yahoo
IE browser as well. Might I need to repair Windows XP? I'm at a complete
loss here! Thanks!

To get rid of the script error messages...

Open IE | Tools | Internet Options | Advanced tab |

CHECK:
 Disable script debugging
[Specifies whether you want to turn off your script debugger, if one is
installed. Script debuggers are used by Web site developers to test programs
and scripts on their Web pages.]

UNCheck:
Display a notification about every script error
[Specifies whether to display the actual script errors when a page does not
appear properly due to problems with its scripting. This feature is off by
default, but is useful to developers when testing Web pages.]
Apply | OK

Hmm... Try this:

How to determine and recover from Winsock2 corruption:

It's an off-chance but it's worth a shot. See also:

Before cleaning download this:

LSP-Fix - a free program to repair damaged Winsock 2 stacks:
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm

Windows XP users read this:

How to determine and recover from Winsock2 corruption:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811259

Use that should cleaning out your PC remove or damage your in-place winsock
and you can't connect to the internet.

From the virus and trojan category pick one application, they're all free,
download it and install it. Make sure that you update it. From the spyware
category pick all three, download them and update them to the latest
definitions. Reboot, press the F8 key over and over again, from the menu
select Safe mode without networking. Do your cleaning in there. Reboot to
regular mode and run the scans again. This isn't going to be quick or easy
but it might just solve your problems and it should prevent you from further
problems so long as you keep them updated and scan often. Most of them can
be enabled to update and scan automatically.

Galen,
Thanks for all the info. I'll look into each of these options. Thanks for
going into further detail rather than giving me the usual "repair". I really
appreciate it!
