IE - Page Cannot be Displayed

Each time I try to type a URL, eg, www.google.com, I keep getting the error page that says Page Cannot be Displayed. I've downloaded and installed IE6 Service Pack 1 and the patch that should resolve this problem. However, I'm still getting the same error message. I have no problem with accessing the microsoft website though. Appreciate your advice and help
Thanks!

Hi there Cristalle,

Try logging onto other search engine sites, such as Altavista.com,
dogpile.com etc.. if none of them works, then there is a FAT chance that the
computer is infected by a Qhost virus. See here for removal instructions:

Hi Cristalle,

Check your Hosts file (without extension) located on the folder
Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc. It should have only the following line
uncommented (without the #'s)
127.0.0.1 localhost

Good luck
