IE maximize = not maximizing

I have a rather odd problem that began happening this morning. I'm running
Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition with IE6.0 SP1 and have a Matrox G400
dual head card installed (not using two monitors).

Starting this morning if I tell IE to maximize it does...however it's about
1.5 inches below the top of the screen. I can still see and access my
Recycle Bin and other icons I have across the top of the screen. I have my
taskbar located at the default bottom-of-screen position and the bottom of
the browser is hidden behind it (taskbar is set to Always On Top).

The weird thing is if I tell it to tile the windows horizontally the browser
will be placed at the top of the screen. From that point if I tell it to
maximimze it goes back to it's not-at-the-top position. If I go back to a
resizable window I can resize it to the top of the screen, or move it around
wherever, so I know the browser can in fact be in that portion of the
screen. Why won't it go there when I click Maximize? Outlook Express
maximizes fine so it's only a browser issue.

If this is happening with only one IE window open, minimize that window to
your taskbar. Go down, grab your taskbar and move it up a few lines. Right
click the IE taskbar icon and choose Maximize. Then move your taskbar back
to it's original location. This should force IE to recalculate its
maximized positioning. If no joy, see this article for possible help:

New Internet Explorer Window Opens Partially Off the Screen

If you're talking about a new (secondary) window...

Open a new window from a link that launches one. Close all previous IE
windows. Do not click the Maximize button. Drag the edges to resize the IE
window open as large as you want, then while holding SHIFT down, close the
window by the "x". This should maintain the new window size between
sessions.

New windows are not truly maximized, but can be set to nearly so by the
method above.

Or you could try this little utility:
