IE Loses Small, Repeated Images

I've noticed that small, repeated images (such as blank gifs used to control
layout or new/old post forum markers) are often "lost" by IE 6.
Right-clicking on the image placeholder and choosing "show picture" always
reloads the image and displays it correctly though. Is this a known problem
and is there a fix for it?

Known problem, not acknowledged, no fix that I know of yet. I've tried
all the suggestions in this newsgroup to no avail so far. Happens on
my work box (mangled dev box) and my home box (pristine).

There needs to be a fix for this, 'cause I'm close to trashing IE
company-wide, and throwing Moz in as the default browser.

Here's hopes that this will turn into a "me too" thread, so MS can see
there's an actual problem, and that I don't have to reassociate images
on my boxes.
