IE Keeps going to WindowsUpdate

I'm having a problem with IE6 keep going to WindowsUpdate.com everytime
I
start it.
No matter whether I set the home page to blank, a home page of my
choice or whatever
it still goes to Windows Update.
I've tried turning off Automatic Updates from the advanced menu under
tools options.
I've tried setting the homepage in the registry.
I'm 99% certain this isn't a browser hijacking, but a mixture of
playing around
with IE7 in the past few weeks, and also a problem where I installed a
program that
made a bit of a mess when I removed it (Fresh Download).
I've also tried running the Windows File Protection tool. No go.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Chris.

What anti-malware tools are you running (e.g., Ad-Watch, SpywareBlaster,
Spybot, Stopzilla)?

SpywareBlaster primarily, + Ms AntiSpy.
As I said though, I'm 99% certain it's nothing to do with Spyware or
the likes.
(Many years of breaking Internet Explorer type experience here ;-)
I think somewhere I've had a clash of settings, and kinda expecting to
need
to change a registry setting somewhere.

Resolved. I re-ran the windows file protection thing, and for
whatever reason
it's back to normal :)

You ran System File Checked (sfc.exe)?

Chances are that your SpywareBlaster settings in Tools > Browser Pages or
Misc IE Settings were blocking your changing the homepage from
windowsupdate.com to whatever you wanted it to be, Ghost.
