IE hangs for 18 seconds after page load

Hi all

When I load a page in IE it will appear to have recieved
all the page, but will then hang with the green status
bar full for about 18 seconds. There is no additional net
traffic during this time, and all functions on the new
page are unavaiable. ie; can't scroll, minimise,
maximise, hit any links on the page, use any of the top
screen buttons or menus etc.

Even when starting a new IE window and hitting stop
before anything loads, it will still 'hang' for this same
length of time.

I tried doing a system resotre back about a week when I
remember IE wasn't misbehaving, but that hasn't worked.

Please help, any ideas appreciated.

Thanks, P

Don's solution was a waste of time. Found this in another post, about to try it

"Go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced then
UNCHECK "Enabl
third-party browser extensions
then reboot.

I just started having this problem late last week.
I saw an old message in another board that said the key was to remove
the "enable third party plugins" option from the Internet Options,
Advanced. It did solve the problem of the hang after loading. However,
then desired plugins such as the Google toolbar won't run.

I believe what happened is that Spybot S&D missed something when
cleaning up my machine last week. Also, I tried Kazaa lite but got so
annoyed with the adverts popping up all the time that I removed it.

Anyway, I'm trying to figure out which third party plugin is causing
the problem.

I noticed that there is another thread on this problem and we've all
got this at about the same time. I'm wondering if it's due to a MS
patch.
