IE Expert Needed - Unable to browse the Internet

Windows 2000 Pro SP3 running IE 6.0.2800.1106 w/all latest secruity patches.
McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.0i w/Patch 11
Virus Def 4601

When opening IE on the desktop. It would freeze. It is unable to download
anything on IE. Tried setting default to www.yahoo.com and www.msn.com
without any success. I believe the problem is with McAfee. But McAfee is
telling me that its Windows. Is there anyway to determine what IE is doing
during the openning process? Are there logs that I can look at. The Event
viewer has been no help to me.

TIA

Whoa i fixed it quite fast, less then 5 mins of this post. Here is what to
do. Go to the security center, then click on privacy service tab, then click
manage user accounts, now on next screen go to options, then block ads tab,
and then unclick block ads, and apply it and you should be good to go.

That no is reporting any issues. If I uninstall McAfee the browser works.
If I roll back the DAT file to 4597 everything is fine. But 4598, 4599, 4600
and 4601 have been nothing but bad news.

I told them that I can reproduce the problem on all the workstations and
they still tell me its not their problem.

We have disabled Access protection and Buffer Overflow protection without
any luck.

Vulcan,

I am not sure where the privacy tab is but we are running McAfee 8.0i
VirusScan Enterprise Edition. Can you provide more details on the privacy
service tab.

Thanks,
Michael

Sorry, but it sure sounds like a McAfee problem to me, Mike. Escalate this
with McAfee by insisting on speaking with a "Level 2" tech.
