IE error when closing Abobe

With several IE webs open, one with a .pdf. When I close the pdf web I get a
window indicating "IE has encountered a problem with an add-on and needs to
close."
Further, the add-on running when the problem occured is, File: pdf.ocx,
Company Name: Adobe Systems, Description: Adobe Acrobat Control for Active X.
When the "Continue" commad button is clicked it closes all IE windows, quite
annoying when doing multible searches.
I am using Windows XP Home. IE 6.0 and Adobe 6.0
I have reloaded Adobe twice, and still the same problem.
Opened IE Add-on Manager, disabled and enabled the axtive X control, no
help, and the update active X command is crayed out not offering an update.
Any help would be most appreciated.

Hi,
If a better idea doesn't come along, try this:
Open Adobe Reader> Edit> Preferences> Internet> Uncheck "Display PDF in
browser."

Then, to make Adobe Reader open *much* faster:
