IE appears to stop in a new window target

Joe

Just recently I have been expierencing problems with IE
6.0. When a link on a page targets a new window IE appears
to hang up. I can stop the page from loading then refresh
and the page will come up. I found an article that
addressed the issue with Win 98 and Office 2000. The
resolution was to update Office 2000 to SR-1. I did that
but have not corrected the problem.
I am running ...
Win XP Pro SP-1
Athlon 2500
1 Gig ram

About the time this problem showed up I had downloaded
some templates for Access. I did not recieve any errors
while installing these though. Any help would be greatky
appreciated.

Thanks,

Joe

Joe,
You may need to clear your TIF as you may have a corrupt file there.

Close all instances of OE and IE
Control Panel | Internet Options | General tab
Click the "Delete Files" button, when prompted place a check in:
"Delete all offline content", click OK
Click the "Clear History" button, click OK.
Click the Settings button, adjust the TIF size to 50 mb, click OK

Possibly your cache folder is corrupt:

Mike,
Thanks for the help. I completed everything you suggested,
the knowledge base article you referenced
(http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=281679) actually fixed
the problem.
