IE and dll error messages

I have a friend who has just changed ISPers. Her previous ISP worked fine,
but about a week ago she changed. Now she gets the "Page cannot be displayed"
with an error message 'Server not found or DNS fault'. We worked through it
by phone using my settings and when she revisited her username\password page
the password read windows\sys32\shdoclc.dll/DNS error.HTM.
Any suggestions please?

Hi Kate,
First try to tell her to Clean her Temprary Internet Files and Delete all
Offline files and Cookies to do that follow these Steps:

1= Open Controo panel >> Internet Connections >> Internet Options on the
General Tab click to clear History, Delete Files and Clear Cookies.
2= Click on Connections Tab and be sure here Default connection is on the
New ISP settings, if you n't sure about the settings you or her should
contact the ISP for the correct settings.
3= Run Anti-spyware for scaning against malwares if she doesn't have one go
here:
http://www lavasoftusa.com for Lavasoft SE for Personal (free) use,
download it for her from your computer on a CD and install it on her computer
and Run the scan for malware.

4= Open Run Command on her machine by doing this:
Start >> Run : sfc /scannow (note the space between sfc_/scannow) and let it
Run then Reboot the Computer (get the XP CD handy it may ask you for it
during runing this Command).
5= If still no joy try to run the winsock run command to repair the winsock:
Run: netsh winsock reset click [OK] then Reboot.

Please do step 1, 2, 3 both together and reboot, 4, 5 to be done one at a
time and Reboot after each step.
HTH.
Please let us know.
Regards,
nass

Did your friend call her new ISP for advice? It sounds like Windows is
still trying to use her old ISP's DNS (Domain Name Server) server. Try
this: Click 'Start' then 'Run' then type cmd in the window then click
OK. When the new window opens, type ipconfig /all. Exit the window then
try a website. If it still gives an error, try typing this into the
Address bar: http://209.73.186.238/ - It's the ip address for Yahoo.
This bypasses the DNS server. If it works, then have your friend call
her new ISP to find out how to set up the new DNS address.

Good luck,
HJS
