IE 7 Beta

G

Guest

I installed IE 7 Beta thinking it may work better, yet it don't, not for me
anyway. Now I can't install IE 6 because "There is a newer version already
installed". So I uninstalled it from Add/Remove Programs, in this case its
under Updates, reboot, and still the same error. Using XP Pro SP2 on HP
Pavilion zd8000.
Thanks, Randall

I think you need to remove the residue files under c:\programfiles and
anything related to IE 7 in your registry. Then try to install IE-6 - Also
try Firefox from MOzilla, its very fast.

Asked/Answered/Under "Huh?" discussion in IE General newsgroup.

Uninstalling IE7 B2P should automatically bring you back to IE6 SP1. IOW,
you don't need to (re)install IE6.

But.......not exactly....it does not always do so without problems.
Personal exerience. BTDT.

Ahmmm...nope...but... there wuz a word "should". <g>

In most every instance that I have seen where the user has installed and
then uninstalled the IE7 B2P there have been various problems with IE6
trying to get it to work again. While it "should" take them back to a
working IE6, it usually doesn't.

Nit duly picked. (Damn speelchukker!)

My experience has been the exact opposite of yours, Jan. Remember, those
who can uninstall it w/out problem aren't likely to post to the NGs to say
so. <w>
