Internet Properties, on the Programs tab; click on the button labeled,
"Reset Web Settings...".

This is a miracle. It changed everything on the disk back to IE icon in one
sweep.

Took me a while to figure out what your procedure is. I thought you meant
click start, programs, .... and was lost.

Should be: open up IE, click: tools, internet options, programs, reset web
settings.

Now I can keep firefox. Or should I remove it?

Sorry about that. I should have point out that I got there from the "Start"
menu. Click the "Start" button, or depress the Windows key. From there use
Settings > Control Panel > Internet Options.

I would remove it, just my opinion

Not completly true. There are several viruses and spyware that are going
around attacking firefox, (I have seen it that is how i know), but no one is
publishing anything about it. There is one that is going arround that
deletes the firefox executable file, adn another that sets about 10 porn
pages(tabs) as your startup page. Both of which get in with verison 1.02
and bellow. Have not tested yet with 1.03.

Improperly secured, MSIE is vulnerable to exploits of the ActiveX variety,
which will result in browser hijack. It is possible to secure MSIE against
that. MSFT sets the security high enough for that now; but they didn't
always. Most people run into trouble by lowering the MSFT default settings
so they can continue to watch the "Dog-and-Pony" shows that web master
lover ActiveX for.

Firefox was always secure by default.

Both MSIE and Firefox are vulnerable to "Operator Headspace". Alas, as I
found out a long time ago, when an army private dinged a chrome sphere,
there is nothing in the world that is "private proof". Naive users often
click away on all the window which start popping up; no browser is proof
against user foolishness.

The newest version of Firefox sure beats IE6 by a mile! Faster page loads,
better response, more options, and NO VIRUSES!!
Just keep it and use it. The more you use it, the better you will enjoy it.
Also, download some of the new extensions and tools for it, like download
manager, new skins, latest extensions. Much easier to modify and easier to
use!
Firefox is GRRRREAT!

Joel, better get caught up on your "news homework". The latest version has
solved the 'possible holes'. None were exploited anyway, they were just
"possible" holes.
There is nothing going around that will load "porn" on your computer
unless you allow it to be there anyway. All you need to do to fix that is
stay off the "porn" sights. ANY BROWSER WILL DOWNLOAD PORN IF YOU ALLOW IT
TO!
Firefox has a wonderful "AD blocking" extension also.
Give it a fair trial or don't spread UNTRUE rumors about it, OK?
I use both Internet Explorer and Firefox (each for different things) and
Firefox is a fine internet tool. (except on Microsoft websites, Microsoft
doesn't like it) Wonder Why??

Just don't visit untrusted sites until they fix this problem with Firefox:

While Mozilla offers a whole suite of secure, independent, open-source
Internet tools, it recently streamlined its browser component and named it
Firefox. Since last summer, we've been testing Firefox, and, frankly, we're
sold: Firefox is just as fast and just as easy as Internet Explorer--and
more importantly, it's much more secure.

I just tested the code with firefox 1.04 and the spyware & virus program my
friend wrote still got through and destroyed FF. Sorry FF still not secure.

I highly doubt that Secunia has any affiliation with Microsoft. Feel free to
post evidence to the contrary.

Firefox is a decent browser but not without it's problems. I prefer Avant.

Security is not a piece of software or hardware it's a process.

Why, for the love of God, would anyone want to go back to IE after the kind
people of mozilla have brought us firefox...

IE is the lesser browser, it has numorous critical holes in it, wich can be
fixed maybe by patching but still..
firefox only has a few holes, wich are moderatly dangerous.

Plus, firefox is faster, and supports web standards like CSS, unlike IE that
has
broken CSS support. And the good thing is, it is just as easy to use as IE,
so that all people can start using FF right away !!

I say, be glad all html files are linked to FF, IE should never be used
again !!

I had nothing but problems with my system after installing Firefox. In
addition I found it's to be clumsy and to get any serious functionality out
of it you had to install additional plugins (can you say yet another vector
for security issues...greasemonkey need I say more).

All the major browser have holes and will continue to have holes. Find one
YOU like and keep it patched, learn it's security functions and use them.

I found it's user interface clumsy and I haven't encountered any issues with
sites and IE. I have found a browser that is at least as 'fast' as Firefox,
uses tabbed browsing and has numerous other benefits and uses the IE
rendering engine. Check out Avant said:

What's good for you maybe useless to others.
