IE 6 vs Firefox - Does SP2 solve the issues?

Over the past 3 years, I've been a faithful user of IE6. In the past few
months, my comp underwent numerous attacks from web surfing. I consider
myself to be a safe surfer. I got fed up with the constant attacks from
sites exploiting the active x or other vulnerabilities. Sooo to make a long
story short I switched to Firefox and I'm loving the internet again. I'm an
old timer that first made the foray onto the net with the old netscape 4.7
version. After 4.7, IE became the prominent browser. Is there another
switch afoot? I liked IE but it seems Firefox is good for me now.

My question: With the SP2, does this package fix alot of the known
vulnerabilities in IE 6? What are peoples experiences? (My OS is XP Home SP1
with all the latest patches.)

Any reply would be appreciated.

You don't say why you want to use IE6. If Firefox does all that you want of
it, and I am sure that Firefox is as good a browser and in some cases better
than IE6, I would stay with it. SP2 hasn't really done much if anything for
IE6 and IE6 is really in dire need of attention from MS, it seems to have
been ignored.

I switched to firefox because of the slowww surfing of ie and pages not
displaying properly (missing graphics) and will never return to ie, i am
using sp2 and there is no improvement in ie, firefox with all the
possibilities re extensions is definitely the way to go.
