IE 6 SP2 Very Slow

I recently upgraded to Win XP and initially IE worked fine. As I loaded more
software (I don't know if this is connected to the problem) IE slowed down
and is now too slow to use. The homepage loads OK and usually the next site
also but then it starts slowing down like its becoming clogged and eventually
is unable to load anything. My ISP says my cable and cable modem are not the
problem and there is no problem with Netscape, which I loaded to be able to
write this message. I've scanned for viruses and spyware and shut down all
options suggested by MS to improve performance (Java, video, etc.) but there
is no improvement. I would try reloading it if I could figure out how to do
it from the disk. Any suggestions for speeding it up appreciated.

Hey Steve,
I am having the same difficulty with a system I am troubleshooting. IE6
SP1 is almost unuesable, but Firefox works GREAT! I have run 4 different
spyware apps, three different antivirus apps, run a repair installation of XP
SP2, repaired IE6, and no luck. I am close to reinstalling over the top, but
since IE6 is the only app not functioning properly, I hope some other tech
will jump in with a fix. Until then, I may just tell the client to use
Firefox. Here is an MSKB on repairing IE6:

Didn't work for me.

Hey again Steve,
I just fixed it!!! WOOHOO! I looked at another post here, relating to
IE home page opening slowly. It took me to a MSKB article:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;320162

From there I went to the following site for the removal tool. Located at
the bottom of the page.

http://www.newdotnet.com/removal.html

I also searched the registry for "newdot" if I recall and found it. After
running the removal too, AND deleting the reg key just to be sure, I rebooted
and all is well. (Though firefox STILL seems a little faster. :) )

Hope this will help you!

Also try looking at www.blackviper.com - this has absolutely tranformed my
PC - got rid of load of reduntant applications that were running for no good
reason, thus were slowing my PC.
