IE 6 Locks until navigating to another session

Here is a strange problem I've never encountered. I have a new Toshiba
notebook with IE 6, sp2 and running XP Media Center. All securtiy updates
are current on the machine. I have McAfee Enterprise AV and Anti-Spyware
running. Everything works great on the machine except web browsing.

For no apparent reason, web pages will lock or freeze. Sometimes when
loading, but often while just navigating with in a site. The page will lock
indefinitely until I navigate to a separate browser session. When I return
to the locked session, all is back to normal. If I have no other browser
session running, I must start one to unlock the locked browser.

While this is happening, all other software works fine on the machine. No
other issues are encountered. It is more of a nuisance than anything. Any
help is greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem. I also have a new Toshiba laptop and I am searching
for a solution. Have you found a fix yet? Toshiba says I should re-install
windows. UGG!

No solution as yet. I have not contacted Toshiba, but installing the OS is
not appealing. I've tweaked the security down a bit on my AV software to see
if that will change anything.

I think Ive found the problem, it is with the fingerprint reader software. If
you go to the toshiba web site > to ask iris> type in "internet explorer 6
hangs" in the search box it should take you to a fix. If you still have a
problem, e-mail me at (e-mail address removed) and I will e-mail you the link.

Thanks - I just downloaded the update. Hopefully it'll solve the problem.

I've been having this same problem since September when I bought the
Satellite. Have trashed McAfee and AVG trying to fix it. I went through Ask
Iris and couldn't find anything. Called Toshiba and they told me to
reinstall IE. I had another issue with the Toshiba "you've got mail" voice
prompt that I couldn't get rid of. Their tech support sucks - but what tech
support doesn't these days.
