IE 6 freezes

I've been having a problem with IE6 freezing for no
apparent reason. I am using Win2000 professional.
Sometimes when I start IE6, it will come up to the home
page and just freeze, no links work, no toolbar
selections work, everything frozen and unfunctionable.
Funny thing is, I can go to Google and input my desired
URL as search criteria and then I can jump to the website
simply by clicking on the Google link. If, however, I
type the very same URL into IE6, it'll just freeze. I
have all the latest updates from windows update. I do use
Pop-up Stopper but I don't think this would cause a
problem. This PC is on a network but all the other
machines work just fine. Could it be a virus? Is there a
way to repair IE in Win2000? Any info would be greatly
appreciated.

The obvious first step is to make sure that Pop-up Stopper is not the
problem by turning it off to check.

Then eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
