Excel IE 6 excel issue

hello all,
i am having some issue with my excel file....the file is not opening with IE6.Lets say the filename is abcd.xls..the browser is removing "." and adding "_" making it as abcd_xls at runtime due to which it is not able to search the required file from the server and hence the error.

The file is properly deployed because it is opening fine in IE7 and Mozilla.

Can anyone suggest me the reason and solution.

Does this happen on just your PC, or on others as well?
