Identities

Is it possible to have multiple identities (accounts) in
Outlook 2000 as can be done in Outlook Express? If so,
how do you switch identities so that more that one person
can use the same system?

You can if Outlook 2000 is used in Corporate/Workgroup mode (CW mode). You
can then configure profiles in Control Panel-> Mail-> button Show
Profiles...

No. You can, however, use multiple profiles. They're created with the Mail
applet in Control Panel. There will be an option to ask which profile to
use when Outlook starts. If you select that option, when a person starts
Outlook, they choose their one profile. Keep in mind, though, that unless
each person password-protects his or her Personal Folders file, there's
nothing to stop one person from choosing another's profile and reading that
other's mail.

If you're using Windows NT, 2000, or XP, the way to do this is to create a
new Windows User for each person. That way, each person will have to log
into the computer with a username and password, protecting all of that
person's sensitive information.

Brian,

The profiles have different account names and passwrods,
but email comes to both profiles no matter which of the
two e-mail accounts are used. Any ideas?

Thanks,

John

Then you haven't set things up properly, because profiles are user-specific,
I believe. For Windows XP, at least, they're in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WIndows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
Messaging Subsystem\Profiles, which is different for every user on the
machine, since it gets loaded from a different hive for each user.
