IDE driver - the windows own or the chipset manufacturer's one ?

My configuration:
win xp pro sp2
asus p4s800d-e deluxe (SiS 655TX/964 based)
one PATA WD 80GB

Currently the IDE controller is driven by the windows own IDE driver.

Should I instead apply the one from the chipset manufacturer ?
Or is it better to leave the windows own ?
No problems are being observed at the moment actually.

The latest SiS IDE driver version is 2.04a issued in Nov. 2003.
Actually, why is his name SiS miniIDE, anybody knows it ?

Youre best bet is to go with the mfg.,microsofts SIS driver is from the
mfg just older version, WHQL certified.

The manufacturer's driver often has a higher performance,
because it uses the chip function fully.
