ICS problem

I have two IBM compatible PC running Windows 2000.

I originally had the host computer setup with a dialup internet connection
which I had successfully shared with the client PC.

Recently we switched to adsl broadband with a one port USB/ethernet hub.

I have ICS enabled for the new connection in "Network & Dialup Connections".

However the client computer cannot access the connection.

Can anyone point me in the direction of likely causes for this failure?

I can't think of an obvious reason that it should not work assuming the
network card settings in both machines have remained unchanged... unless for
some reason it just doesn't work well with USB connections, however I would
go with Richard and suggest you simply buy a cheap router. Most will just
work out of the box and immediately add a layer of protection to both PCs.
You won't have to have the connecting machine on all the time (Even always
on machines need rebooting sometimes) and I suspect your speeds will improve
also. I must admit that I resisted this method for some time - basically
being too lazy to change things, but in fact it's by far the easiest and
most reliable method in the long run.

By the way you will need plain network cables, not crossover cables to
connect PCs to the router. Your PC to PC cable will be a crossover cable -
the ports on the router are already wired "Crossed Over".
