Icons Dragged and dropped are copied

How can I change the default behaviour in XP so that Icons dragged and
dropped are ALWAYS cut and pasted instead of being copied.. (Duplicated..)?

IE I drag a *.ZIP file from my desktop to a storage folder in my storage
drive (G:) and it copies instead of cuts and pastes..

Is this some kind of security feature or do I have control over its behaviour?

Thanks for any answer on this.

Whether it's copied or moved depends on whether it's from one place on
a drive to another place on the drive or to a different drive. I find
that rule to be completely unintuitive, and I can never remember which
is which. So my personal practice is always to *right*-drag the item.
When you do that, when you let go of the mouse button, you are
prompted to choose between

Copy here
Move here
Create shortcut here.

That works well for me.
