icons disappeared in the "Folder Toolbar" (left panel) of EXPLORER

Hello,
all icons disappeared in the "Folders Toolbar"
(or left panel) of my Windows XP Pro Explorer.

Some days ago , they reappeared, and then went away again !!
(note: I may have done a quick unwanted movement with the mouse, but don't
know which one)
I don't undersand what controls this behaviour, I tried several tweakUI
things with no success. I tried to google the pb, but found nothing about
icons in the treeview of the folders panel.
The treeview is still working fine, but even there icons make everything
easier to use!

Any clue?

The normal reason for this behavior does not have to do with a mouse
movement. Goes as follows:

The Folders Bar in Windows Explorer Does Not Contain Any Icons
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q307028

Adaptation for the Article: Needs to be a path not a drive letter, so subst
c: [x]:\. Note backslash converts a drive letter to a path. It must point
to a valid folder as in: c: d:\Windows

If this is not the case, even modifying Open vs. Explore via Folders doesn't
change this option nor does the path to open Windows Explorer to ex:
%SystemRoot%\Explorer.exe /root, C:\
That said, more info needed.
