I want *NO* home page in IE7

Is there any way to tell IE7 to not load ANY page at startup? I don't even
want it to attempt to load "about:blank"

I start IE, get halfway through typing an URL or search and BOOM, my entry
is messed up and "about:blank" loads.

Once I start typing into the address or search box I do *NOT* want IE
hijacking my entry.

(And aren't there any IE7 newsgroups?)

If you are using XP and loaded IE7 from IE6, I would unload IE7 using
the Control panel, then go back to IE6. Then run these couple of programs,
(1) Spybot -search & destroy
(2) Ad-Aware Se Personal,
then update all updates of IE6.
Re-load IE7.

If the above processes does not clear up problems, next thing is to run "HijackThis.exe".
You can download HijackThis from http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html .
Hope you don't have to run HijackThis.

Yes there is a news group for IE7, it is "microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general"
Good luck.

about:blank = no home page

about:blank = IE still trying to process an HTML file of some sort. I simply
want it to open and have NOTHING in the address bar.

You could leave IE off until you need a site. The either go to the site from your favorites link in
the START menu or type the URL in the RUN box. That way the first site you need is one you see.

You could try pointing to a local image file, thus:

C:\Documents and Settings\Norman\My Documents\My
Pictures\V-W-X-Y-Z\Yamaneko\Kabegami Koubou\Mana-musume Ito\maya23c_1024.jpg

Loads in an instant, and you are ready to go. MSIE7 doesn't take any time to
load that image on my computer. I tried a .png file, but MSIE7 throws an
"unsafe script" warning for some odd reason.

If you still see MSIE trying to load HTML when you have it load a .jpg image
from your local file store, you probably have some kind of BHO, or malware
script associated to the browser.

Seriously. It's not made to browse "nothing." Sometimes I'd like to
drive my car without turning on the key, but it doesn't work that way.

Run... (e.g. press Win-R and enter:)

iexplore.exe -nohome

(Beware what you wish for... <eg>)
