Yep. Many issues with SP2, but very hard to diagnose, depending on all the
proper preparation taken, and countless other things.

Here's a quote from a Consumer Reports Bulletin that points out one of the
strangest I've heard about.

" The Dell Inspiron 1150 laptop has a unique problem: Its performance slows
by an astonishing 90 percent when Microsoft's Windows XP Service Pack 2
security update is installed. Dell has a remedy for the problem, but you'd
be hard-pressed to find it in the company's online tech-support information.

or maybe an old driver..one reason i never upgrade old stuff...by the time you figure out all the old problems y ou could have built a totally new machine.

| It could also be a hardware problem, such as disk controller or hard drive.

I know I know...you thought you heard this last from me but just wanted to
share this info.

I got really pissed today and started uninstalling crap like a madman, after
NOTHING would start and the computer wouldn't even shut down.

I got rid of the entire MS Office Suite...including that lame update but
kept FP2003. So far, it has been running like a charm. Next, I'm blowing out
SP2...even if I have to reinstall WIN-XP.

LESS is MORE (someone please tell Bill Gates)

Alex....happy at last.

Now that's the ticket! ...less is more is right (wanna see my garage?)

My money is on SP2 being the culprit...second choice some old driver or something like that.

Just don't throw out the baby with the bathwater.
