I NEED HELP WITH MY A7N8X-E DELUXE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a question about powering up a motherboard.

My question is, "What would make a computer turn on then after a few
seconds just shut off by itself?

I just replaced my board with a A7N8X-eE Deluxe board from Asus. But
now when I turn the power on It shuts off after a few seconds. One
oerson told me that something was touching metal somewhere He told
me to take my tower apart then put it back together and me sure that
no metal is touching.
So I did that and It still is shutting off.
What should I look for or look at that might fix this problem?
Please help me with this... Tammy

Want you to clarify a bit here..
Does it turn itself on? and then Off?.. Then it turns itself back on? and
keep doing that forever?

I just went through the same thing with my board. I replaced the power
supply last night and it seemed to fix it.

I have personally had it happen to me after moving a computer and the
motherboard power connector came slightly loose (doh)

Check that the CPU heatsink/fan is fitted correctly - it's easy
to put some of these on backwards, resulting in the mobo
shutting itself down to prevent the CPU from overheating.

If the heatsink is rotated 180 degrees, such that the
contact patch on the bottom of the heatsink doesn't line
up with the die, the silicon die is "half cooled", and the
die heats up until Asus COP shuts off the motherboard to
protect the processor from overheat. Remove the heatsink
and verify the contact patch is turned the right way,
apply a little fresh paste, and reassemble.

You might also check that the CPU fan is plugged into the
fan header.
