I like Vista, anyone else that can say anything positive about it?

I really dove in. Purchased a new HP Laptop with Vista Ultimate 64 Bit. Sure it's different and takes some getting used to all in all I really like it. I loaded my PC up and out of all the software I've been using for YEARS only one thing is not working and it's due to the 64Bit install.....not Vista (Aladdin Etoken). Even the programs that say they won't work on their websites are working just fine!

My only real complaint is that during the one month I've owned the new machine I've had 2 instances of "Blue Screen of death". You would think Microsoft would finally rid us of that after all these years but it still exists and you still have no idea what caused it. But I wouldn't even dream about going back to XP because this is the future if you stick with Microsoft....no way around it.

Hopefully there are others out there that like the new O/S and can share something positive about it.

Sure. I made a similar post earlier.

My Sony Vaio SZ440 lpatop runs wonderfully with Vista. I've got one program
that won't run (Greenbow VPN client), and one piece of hardware that ran
(sort of) under XP but not under Vista (an HP ScanJet 4), but everything
else works great, and I've found work-arounds for these two problems. On my
new Vaio, Vista feels much faster than XP on the older (and slower) machine
that it replaced, particularly with pre-fetch. It took a bit to work out
the kinks, but I'm very happy with Vista. When I first got the machine I
was seriously considering replacing Vista with XP Pro. Now I'm glad I
didn't.

Stop errors (the proper name of the blue screen of death) are usually caused
by device drivers. These are created by the hardware manufacturers. As such
Microsoft aren't in a position to directly improve them. They have however
made it possible for 3rd parties to get the crash data, and use it to fix
problems. Which is why I recommend submitting any crash reports to
Microsoft.

The new Problem Reports and Solutions in the Control Panel is a good place
to start, and the Event Viewer is good to get more details.

I love Vista to, I have it installed on two pc's in my home and have had only very minor issues. Vista is truely great! If you look around this news group I have stated I like Vista many times Way to go Vista Wooo Hooo !!!!!!!

It's another over priced get rich quicker scheme by the monopoly M$.
I've been at it for a little over a week. Had to switch when my XP fried.And I'll most likely repair that with a NEW M/B.

New colors. SOS from MS. Nothing new, and even downgrading in some areas.Found something today synch something. I have the software installed. But without paying out $400 for the extreme OS it doesn't work. And I would guess if I get the $400.00 OS, synch'll be installed AND working. Now it's just taking up drive space. Useless software taking up space.. Can I remove it and make room NO. I didn't get an OS disk.
If you don't need it, don't get it.

It's obsolesced [another word for alienated] too many customers, both large companies, and users. All it's actually doing is flexing it's monopoly muscle, and knows the world will do nothing to stop MS from becoming it's own country if necessary.

Me I use it, but I also drink water. Because there's no other choice. Butas long as MS is a monopoly, I'll never be satisfied with MS. they have that strike against them out the gate.
I used my Commodore, and Amiga till they both died. My Amiga ran rings around the XP OS with only 64 megs of ram. Not 128 megs or 1 gig ram, 64 megs.
I'd still be using them if I didn't have to buy parts from Germany and England.
Will I buy more MS. As long as there's no other choice, yes.

Yep, I like it too.

Obviously the most noticeable difference is with the user interface, which
hasn't FUNDAMENTALLY changed from XP - it's still got the Start button with
its menu structure, task bar, etc, etc....

But almost every part of the interface has been POLISHED, and I think it is
much the better for it. Gone are those hideous Fisher Price colours; gone
is the child-like 'My' in front of everything; gone are the patronising and
intrusive sound schemes, with their brash fanfares, giggling children,
robotic beeps and farts.

For the first time ever I've kept most of the animations and sounds.

What really pleases me is that if you don't like all these changes, you can
easily make it look and behave pretty much like XP, even giving it the
chiselled look of W2K and earlier. So what is there to complain about,
really?

So far mine has been stable (until I tried to update the graphics driver,
but unrolling the update got me working fine again). I appreciate people
have had problems - mostly with hardware/driver incompatibilities - but this
will sort itself out in due course.

For me, I'm running Vista on my desktop and XP on my laptop (not enough
grunt for Vista), and Vista is the clear winner by a good margin.

No. the software support is NOT there. All the software support is for M$.
You can't blame M$ for becoming the monolith it is. It's the uninformed consumer's that pushed them this far.
M$ still hasn't caught up to the Amiga that died 15-20 years ago.
And when you think that the Commodore 64 did the same with 64 K of ram that we now need a minimum 512 MEG of ram, M$ hasn't caught up to that little machine either.

One month and only 2 BSOD's. I've been using Ubuntu linux for over a year,
three machines on the internet 24/7/365 and NO crash.
