I have a Greyed Out Printer Icon in Word?

When trying to print from Word 2003 the printer functions (both the icon and
pull down Menu) are greyed out. The PC has Win2K on it. Upgrading to XP is
NOT AN OPTION on this PC due to proprietary software installed. Any
suggestions would be great.
