I CAN'T SEND E-MAILS

R

RENATO

UNTIL LAST NIGHT I WAS USING WINDOWS MAIL NORMALLY. WHEN I SHOT DOWN THE
COMPUTER, WINDOWS MADE A BIG UPDATE. TODAY MORNING, WHEN I TRIED TO USE
WINDOWS MAIL I WAS ABLE TO RECEIVE NEW E-MAILS BUT I COULDN'T SEND E-MAILS.
I'M SURE THAT THE AUTHENTICATION IS CORRECT, BUT I'M ALWAYS RECEIVING THE
SAME MESSAGE:

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject 'teste',
Account: 'pop3.uol.com.br', Server: 'smtp.uol.com.br', Protocol: SMTP, Server
Response: '553 5.7.1 <[email protected]>: Recipient address rejected:
PARA ENVIAR AS MENSAGENS, CLIQUE EM "ENVIAR e RECEBER" E INFORME SEUS DADOS
DE ACESSO AO UOL.', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 553, Error
Number: 0x800CCC79

WHAT CAN I DO?

I am having the same problem as Renato. I get sick and tiredf of this

I was not able to send email to (e-mail address removed) either.
Are you able to send email to other recipients?
This looks like either a problem with that particular email address,
or else that mail server is malfunctioning. If the latter, use webmail
for sending until the mail server is repaired.

Incidentally, please unlock your Caps Lock key. Writing in all caps
is considered to be rude shouting in these forums.

It is unlikely that your problem is identical. If you would like some custom

My error message is as follows:
The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'test', Account:
'mail.comcast.net', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Comcast has pretty much dropped support for port 25.
Use these settings:
http://www.comcast.com/Customers/FAQ/FaqDetails.ashx?Id=2288

Note that the outgoing server now requires port 587 rather than port 25.
Also, "My server requires authentication" must be checked.

You're very welcome. Thanks for reporting back.
Comcast made the change, and they failed to inform their customers.

Thank You, that fixed it. How did my outgoing port get changed to 25 when it
should be 587. I did not change it. Did comcast make some kind of change
and not tell anyone? I don't understand what and why, but in any case it's
fixed now and I Thank You very much.
