Perhaps during the time you had the laptop off, no new email
came into the server.
Try this. Turn the laptop off. On the desktop PC send an email to
yourself. Does it arrive?

If you use the laptop more frequently then the desktop, you should
configure the laptop to leave a copy of emails on the server:
Tools > Accounts > select the account > Properties > Advanced >
check "Leave a copy of messages on server".

Also, I don't recall seeing a reply from you as to what antivirus
program you are using.

I have sent myself over one hundred e-mails over the last few days trying out
every option each time my laptop has been turned off, I can send but not
recieve!!!
Please see my second message 17.05.2007 about anti virus!
I have turned on ''Leave a copy of messages on server".
I also use the PC more frequently then the Laptop.

AON is my Austrian provider
All the same as XP with laptop.

Can you try using POP3.email.aon.at as the POP3 server?

Yes, turn Windows Firewall on. We haven't seen any reports of
Windows Firewall interfering with Windows Mail.

Ordinarily I'd suggest that your old account had become corrupted,
and needed to be recreated. But you tried it with Thunderbird and
had the same problem. So, I don't have any new suggestions.
