I cannot open exsisting word documents

My computer has stopped opening my word and excel documents. Its says the
application is not available. When I clsoe it say "The file normal already
exsists. Do you want to replace the exsisting file? I say no, and it say
"changes have been made that affect the global template, normal. Do you want
to save these changes? Say no and then it closes.

Close Word. Delete the temporary files as shown at
http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm
Start Word. Close Word. If you are prompted to save normal.dot - do so.
