I can send, but not receive??

I have Outlook 2003 and I just started having a receiving problem. I can send
e-mails with no problems, but I haven't had any coming in since yesterday. I
went to our server site online and I can check my e-mails there, so I know I
am getting them, but Outlook won't download them? I tried to see if I had
messed up the settings somehow, but when I go to "Send and Receive Settings"
and click on "Define Send/Receive Groups" nothing happens? It won't open??
Ever heard of that?

Thanks!

By any chance is your server GoDaddy? If so, they are having issues today
with their pop server, so receiving is an issue today. It should be fixed by
now. I am working at home now, so unable to confirm with colleagues, but it
seems to be fine.

I noticed that we had an antivirus Definition update about the same time I
stopped receiving e-mails. we currently have the newest version of Symantec
Endpoint Protection. Has anyone had problems like this before with Symantec?

I have been having the same problem for a couple of weeks now. I use Yahoo
premium mail service along with Outlook 2003. I spent nearly 2 hours online
with Yahoo troubleshooting they pointed their finger at M/S Outlook. I have
not had any success at resolving the problem yet, but I will plan to watch
yor post for updates. By the way, I use Windows Live One Care as my
anti-virus program. Good luck!

Symantec Endpoint Security is a huge cause of problems with Outlook.
However, it wouldn't stop you from opening the Send/Receive Group dialogue
as you say you can't. With Outlook closed, try deleting the (usually
hidden) file %AppData%\Microsoft\Outlook\yourprofilename.SRS, where
"yourprofilename" is the name of your mail profile.

If you are using 'smtp.mail.yahoo.com:465', and 'pop.mail.yahoo.com:995',
you have a couple of potential issues; both related to MSFT, not Yahoo!.

Users of MS Outlook have reported problems on the secure ports cause by not
having the latest MS patches for Outlook. Users have also reported issues
resolve by either:

Uninstalling Windows Live One Care.
Deleting a corrupt personal security certificate.

I can find the Outlook.SRS file, but nothing specific to my profile? Am I
searching in the wrong area? I get all the way through to the
%AppData%\Microsoft\Outlook\ but as soon as I type in my profile it finds
nothing :( hidden or not. Is this the same file? My computer only has one
account group, does that matter?

Thx :)

WooHoo!!!!!! It worked :). I deleted the Outlook.srs file and as soon as i
opened Outlook and hit send/receive it started downloading everything. The
funny thing was when I went to delete it, it said that it was in use even
though I had everything closed. I went to the task manager and there was an
idle outlook process sitting there. As soon as I ended that process the .srs
file disappeared and voila!

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apparently, then, your mail profile is named "Outlook". Delete the SRS file
and see what happens when you start Outlook again.

I have exactly the same symptoms, but deleting the .srs file did not work for
me. Have you any other advice?

This problem has recurred intermittently on the same computer in the past,
but I've had it now for oner a week. Like aviendah_AK I can see the incoming
email via webmail, but Outlook won't connect to the incoming server (which is
correctly identified in the account setup details). I infer this is an
Outlook problem because (i) it also used to occur from time to time with my
previous ISP, and (ii) I have no problems with my other computer on the same
WiFi network, with the same client firewall and firewall settings, but uses
Mozilla Thunderbird as the email client.

I'd be grateful for any advice you can give me.
