Hyperlink Problem

An long-standing Office 2000 Word document contains hyperlinks to .Doc's ,
..XLS' and .PPT's

Recently, whenever a hyperlink to a PPT is selected the message 'an
unexpected error has occured' is encountered.

This also results in some of the shares disappearing.

Any ideas ?

Thank you.

First check: ensure that the PowerPoint file is actually still in the
directory where the link is pointing to, as it could have been deleted.
Hope this helps

Can the PowerPoint file be opened directly? This error message usually occurs
when the linked file has an error. Do any other links to a PowerPoint file
work ok? This Word file may be starting to corrupt, especially if it is so
old and many users use it.
Cross-fingers

Hello Dean

The PPT's can be opened via PowerPoint

Whether 'hyperlinked' from the original .DOC or a new .DOC always get the
error

I asked whether any other PowerPoint file can be opened via a hyperlink
within that particular file, or any other Word file (not necessary to the
same PowerPoint file) because I am wondering if Word has "lost" its register
to PowerPoint.
Hopefully someone else on this newsgroup can possible help with
"re-registering" PowerPoint to Word.
All the best.
