Hurricane Frances shut Down my PC

Monte Stimmel

I had my IBM.Windows XP system up today (in Orlando), and
then when we lost power due to the hurricane, I can no
longer get back in... We get a message saying "We
apoligize for the inconvenience but Windowd did not start
successfully. A recent hw or sw change might have caused
this... blah, blah, blah.. then it tells me to click
on "Start Windows Normally" or "Safe Mode" blah, blah,
blah... whatever I select I get the Windows initial
screen, then a bunch of error messages similiar to this:

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)/windows\system32
\drivers\disk.sys

This is one of about 40 of the error messages..

How can I salvage this? I do not have the CD any longer?

I prefer not to do a totally new install, if that means
I'll lose everything on my hard drive...

Please help... I am new to news groups.. so, can you
please also respond to this via email @
(e-mail address removed)

Thanks,
Monte

those are not error messages, everybody gets those when you boot to another
mode. Give it a few seconds after the screen stops scrolling, then It
'SHOULD' boot up.

Monte, you need to give a bit more information, like what exactly does
happen? Does it ever boot into any of the choices? What is your system
configuration?
